Your Role:
Do you thrive on managing your own caseload and learning about a variety of business operations? Have you managed arbitration or court matters? Do you have an interest or some experience in employment law matters? We're looking for someone like this to:
  • provide legal advice and guidance on employment law issues across the Americas with focus on non-competition, non-solicitation, non-disclosure and other restrictive covenants as well as data protection/leakage and high-dollar asset recovery/collection matters
  • manage time-sensitive and high-profile litigation in federal and state courts and arbitration forums
  • partner with various functions within the bank, including HR, Employee Relations, Compliance, Finance, Data Privacy and Insider Threat teams as well as management teams in Wealth Management and Investment Bank
  • think strategically and assist with proactive management of legal risk

Your Team:
You'll be working in the Employment Legal - Americas team. We're responsible for all employment legal issues across all Americas locations and we support all of the UBS Business Divisions. So, you can be working on something for the Investment Bank in New York in the morning and for Wealth Management in Puerto Rico in the afternoon. You'll work within a regional team of lawyers (located in Nashville, New York, Stamford and Weehawken) and be part of a global team (located in Zurich, London and Hong Kong).

Your Expertise:
  • ideally at least 3 years' experience managing litigation in government, private practice or in-house with some exposure to employment law
  • a law degree and are admitted to practice law in the U.S. (or ability to obtain admission)
  • Exposure to FINRA or other arbitration forums
  • experience working with senior stakeholders on sensitive matters
  • excellent technical skills, sound critical thinking, problem-solving and negotiating skills, with the ability to apply those skills to a wide range of HR, employment, regulatory, tax and other issues
  • self-motivation and capability of delivering solution-oriented, firm but fair, pragmatic and risk-based advice
