The Role:
Reporting to the Director of Litigation and Employment Law, this position will focus on managing a broad range of employment law matters for the organization. This role involves advising internal clients on compliance with labor laws, drafting and reviewing employment policies, handling claims of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour issues, and managing outside counsel to represent internal clients at administrative hearings, mediations, and court proceedings.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Provide legal support and advise human resource professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Day-to-day operational advice on general employment law best practices.
  • Draft and review HR materials, including employment agreements, handbooks, workplace policies, and other HR-related forms.
  • Represent internal clients in disputes involving discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wage claims.
  • Conduct internal investigations and provide risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and provide engaging training on compliance, workplace conduct and associated best practices, and informative and regular sessions on emerging legal issues for HR professionals.
  • Manage docket of cases and claims in litigation and administrative proceedings, including:
    • Hire, coordinate, and hold accountable a network of outside counsel to achieve best results for the company in pending matters.
    • Coordinate with insurers.
    • Attend and lead case/claim investigations, prepare corporate witnesses for depositions and/or interviews, attend settlement conferences/mediations, and attend trials.
    • Manage outside counsel billing to ensure billing appropriate and within budget.
  • Proficient in document management systems and e-billing software with the ability to maintain organized case and claim files.

What We're Looking For:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 3+ years legal practice experience in litigation and employment law
  • Strong knowledge of litigation and employment law
  • Ability to communicate legal concepts effectively to business stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a team member while also contributing independently
  • Excellent and succinct verbal and written communication skills

Where and When You'll Work:
Collaborate in person at our Greene, NY or Columbus, IN office and work on a hybrid schedule.

What Your Total Compensation & Benefits Package will look like:
Salary - $118,590 - $168,765 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate's education and experience.
