Description:
- Special Counsel opening for our Employment & Labor practice in our Washington, DC office
- At least six years of employment law experience in employment counseling, negotiating, and litigation
- Candidate will work on a variety of employment and non-employment issues, such as general business strategy and legal compliance.
- Seeking candidates with experience in one or more of following areas:
- Counseling employers on workplace matters, including wage-and-hour compliance, leave laws, discrimination and retaliation allegations, hiring and terminations, mass layoffs, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, employee privacy, and employment issues arising in the government-contracting context;
- Drafting and negotiating workplace agreements, including employment, nondisclosure, severance, and intellectual property agreements;
- Drafting employment policies;
- Conducting workplace investigations and providing pre-litigation counseling, including preparing cease-and-desist letters and advising on noncompetition, trade secret, and other restrictive-covenant matters; and
- Defending single-plaintiff employment litigation and litigating intellectual property and workplace contract disputes.
- Experience working in a nationally recognized employment and labor firm is preferred.
- Seeking academically distinguished applicants who have excellent writing and communication skills, high attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
- Please note that this is a non-partnership track position with an 1,800 billable hour requirement.
- The base salary for this position is expected to be between $275,000 to $300,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
