Miller Canfield, an international law firm with a widely respected management-side employment litigation and labor law practice, seeks an experienced Employment and Labor Litigation attorney to join its practice.Our Chambers-ranked Employment and Labor group defends employers in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, FMLA, ADA, and wage and hour cases, including class action litigation. The group also prosecutes and defends non-compete litigation and assists clients with collective bargaining and traditional labor matters, including defense of unfair labor practice charges. In addition, the group regularly counsels clients on all matters related to employment, including those related to hiring, discipline, discharge, time off, employee accommodations, workplace investigations, executive contracts, and employee training.
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 10 years' significant experience taking depositions, arguing motions, preparing cases for trial, handling grievances, arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges and collective bargaining negotiations. Preference for candidates with substantial experience advising employers on compliance with state and federal employment laws, drafting and revising employment policies, and handling harassment, discrimination, FMLA, ADA, retaliation, and wage and hour law matters. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills with superior judgment, the ability to work well with a team, effectively handle multiple projects, and articulate legal strategies and courses of action. A portable book of business is a plus, though not necessary.
Must be licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan, or eligible for admission by examination or waiver. This position may be located in any of our Michigan offices with a preference for southeast Michigan (required for those without a portable book of business).
