- Providing knowledgeable and practical legal advice to human resources professionals and other company leaders regarding day-to-day employment law issues, including discipline, performance management, non-discrimination, non-harassment, wage and hour practices, background checks and drug testing, and employment law compliance issues
- Providing guidance to human resources professionals on ADA interactive process discussions, FMLA and other leave-related compliance issues
- Managing a docket of employment law litigation matters in coordination with outside employment counsel
- Responding to attorney demand letters and agency administrative charges involving employment-related claims
- Developing company policies and associated materials in response to applicable legal developments
- Developing and delivering training to HR professionals on employment law topics
- Occasional travel when required (0%-10%)
- Other projects or duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an ABA accredited law school with 4 to 6 years of experience as an employment attorney handling a wide range of employment matters and litigation, with an emphasis on California employment law.
- Admission to California state bar with an active license, or satisfaction of requirements for registered in-house practice in the State of California.
- Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal issues.
- Strong ethical background and commitment to integrity.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through; excellent organizational skills.
- Experience with union-represented work forces is preferred.
