Overview:Job Summary:
Primarily provide legal counsel on various legal and contractual issues and legal support of significant company operations including drafting, reviewing, negotiating and providing legal advice, including litigation. Secondarily, assist in managing employment litigation, including the review and preparation of documents for discovery, management of outside counsel, and attendance of key depositions as the Company's representative. Consistently provide friendly and engaging customer service to internal and external customers. Performs other related work.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and concise advice and counsel to Human Resources, Labor Relations and Payroll.
- Develop, review, analyze, negotiate and manage a variety of contracts, business agreements and related documents including non-disclosure, licensing, software and vendor agreements, services arrangements, bidding documents, and other commercial transactions and related litigation.
- Review, maintain oversight, and provide assistance for Human Resource and employment related investigations.
- Prepare EEOC and state-administrative charge responses independently, with little or no administrative support, and represent the company in agency proceedings, as assigned.
- Prepare wage claim responses, and represent the company in wage claim hearings, as permitted and assigned.
- Manage employment litigation and arbitration proceedings, as assigned.
- Manage outside counsel representing company responsible for employment related litigation, as well as manage associated fees and budget related to such litigation, as assigned.
- Identify business and corporate law issues; identify and guard against legal risk.
- Draft and/or review company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards.
- Assess facts and business terms, apply legal principals and confidently convey advice to clients.
- Work closely with all levels of employees, management, business units, external customers, vendors and strategic partners.

- Research legal issues.
- Suggest ways to improve financial savings and exceptional performance.
- Perform other duties as needed, such as assisting the General Counsel and/or the legal team with non-employment related litigation and projects.
Requirements:
Education:
Juris Doctorate Degree and admission to State Bar in at least one State.
Experience:
- At least five (5) years of legal experience in an established law firm or in-house organization.
- At least three (3) years of employment litigation and arbitration proceedings.
- Responding to demand letters and employment agency charges, conducting related investigations, coordinating discovery, including preparing responses and compiling documents; drafting substantive legal memoranda, briefs and declarations.
- Demonstrating familiarity with gathering information and complying with subpoenas.
- Exhibiting experience in drafting and negotiating commercial or transactional agreements.
- Displaying general knowledge of contract law and ability to provide sound and practical legal advice.
- Practicing leadership abilities and effective working relations with all levels of the organization

- Demonstrate excellent organizational, analytic and communications skills.
- Travel to attend legal proceedings as needed, approximately 30% of the time.
