The ideal candidate must be able to practice law in Maryland.A Maryland Employment Lawyer is a boutique civil rights and employment law practice representing Maryland workers in discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage theft cases. We're seeking an entry-level Maryland attorney. This position is primarily remote.
As an Attorney, you'll work directly with the managing attorney on every case — gaining one-on-one mentorship, meaningful courtroom experience, and real responsibility early in your career.
We are a remote-first firm with a manageable caseload of 15–20 cases, quarterly in-person syncs, and a strong commitment to balance and growth. Attorneys share in a 25% contingency bonus pool, receive 20 days of paid leave plus paid parental leave, and get a $500 monthly healthcare stipend (with group coverage planned as we grow). Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence.
- Conduct legal research and apply findings to active cases.
- Communicate regularly with clients to keep them informed and supported.
- Track deadlines and ensure cases move forward proactively.
- Participate in mediations, hearings, and trials alongside the managing attorney.
- Accurately record time spent on substantive case work for fee petitions.
- Collaborate with the managing attorney on case strategy and execution.
- Contribute to quarterly in-person firm sync meetings and overall firm culture.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Maryland bar (federal admission a plus)
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines with reliability and attention to detail.
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset — you'll always be working closely with another attorney.
- Genuine interest in employment law, civil rights, and advocating for workers.
Preferred but not required:
- Prior experience in litigation, legal research, or client-facing work (internships, clinics, or clerkships count).
