Description:

Miller Canfield is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits attorney to join its growing Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation and ERISA practice. This role is based in southeast Michigan, although qualified candidates based in any of our U.S. office locations or working remotely will be considered.

As part of Miller Canfield's highly regarded employment and labor practice, Miller Canfield's employee benefits team offers sound, pragmatic advice about issues involving virtually all types of benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements. Our attorneys design plans specific to each client's needs and monitor legislation and regulatory changes to keep clients well-advised of changes that may affect these plans so clients can remain in compliance. Our team often works with other Miller Canfield practices to resolve benefits and executive compensation issues involved in the purchase or sale of companies.

Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years' experience handling employee benefits, ERISA, and executive compensation matters. Must be skilled in the design, implementation and administration of qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, executive compensation arrangements, insurance benefits, fringe benefits, deferred compensation arrangements, and incentive bonus programs. Successful candidates will have a strong academic record, excellent drafting and analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Must be licensed and in good standing in Michigan or eligible for admission by examination or waiver. A portable book of business is a plus, but not required for the position.

At Miller Canfield, we offer you the opportunity to simultaneously live your life and advance your career—really advance your career—in ways that matter most to you. We offer generous pay and benefits, challenging and sophisticated work assignments, reasonable billable hour requirements, mentoring and business development training, annual performance reviews conducted by practice group leaders, pro bono opportunities, reduced and flexible work schedules, and gender-neutral family leave policies. Our benefit package includes health, dental, and life insurance options, including health savings accounts, long- and short-term disability coverage, flexible spending accounts, and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer contribution.
