A Business Law Firm' Technology & Intellectual Property practice is a multidisciplinary group that includes talented professionals with experience in business, regulatory law, and litigation related to intellectual property rights (patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets). Our patent prosecution team helps clients secure patent rights globally and provides strategic counseling so clients can enforce and monetize their IP assets.

As a patent prosecution associate on the team, you will develop and hone your patent drafting skills and your ability to provide sound technical, legal, and business advice to our clients. Our industry and business expertise inform how we manage our clients' patent assets to achieve their business objectives. You will also have opportunities to take on projects touching other aspects of IP including litigation and transactional support.

  • 2-5 years of experience as an attorney or combined with agent experience;
  • An undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field;
  • Patent drafting experience in software, semiconductor manufacturing, wireless communications, optics, or medical devices is a plus;
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen actively, think critically, and communicate complex concepts to multiple audiences through compelling written and oral advocacy;
  • Good judgment, responsiveness, and perseverance;
  • Strong intellectual curiosity;
  • Self-motivation;
  • A commitment to client service and team success;
  • JD from an accredited university;
  • Membership in the state bar for the market where you are applying, or the ability to become barred in that state;
  • USPTO Registered.
