We are looking for felony prosecutors who want to be in court and in trial. We are a trial office responsible for the prosecution of felonies in Bell County. Our office gives prosecutors the opportunity to litigate the most serious felony offenses, while also allowing you to manage your cases from investigation until disposition.

Job Description:
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
  • Drafts complaints and indictments;
  • Screens cases submitted by law enforcement, evaluates and reviews evidence, reports, and recordings; determines appropriate criminal charges; advises law enforcement and investigators when further investigation is needed;
  • Represents the State in District Court for hearings and trials; determines appropriate sentence recommendations;
  • Reads and researches case law;
  • Complies with discovery requirements;
  • Handles assigned cases through disposition, with the support of a separate appellate division;
  • Represents the State in probation revocation hearings;
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Criminal litigation experience is preferred, and a license to practice in Texas.

Physical Demands:
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Requires a license to practice law in the State of Texas.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language

Proposed Compensation Range
Salary range between $114,482 to $123,919, based upon experience and qualifications.
