Role of The Position
The William S. Boyd School of Law at The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (boyd Law) Is Seeking Applications for The Position of Director of The Wiener-Rogers Law Library and Associate Professor or Professor of Law.
This Full-Time Faculty Appointment Is Tenured or Tenure-Track Dependent on The Successful Candidate's Experience. the Director Will Play a Pivotal Role in Shaping the Future of Legal Information Services at Boyd Law, Ensuring the Library Remains a Vibrant Hub for Research, Teaching, and Innovation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide Strategic Leadership and Overall Administration of The Law Library, Encompassing Budgeting, Personnel Management, and Policy Development.
- Oversee the Collection Development and Management of Both Print and Electronic Resources to Meet the Curricular, Scholarly, and Space Needs of The Law School Community.
- Ensure Compliance with Aba and Aals Accreditation Standards.
- Support Faculty Scholarship by Maintaining and Further Developing Boyd Law's Unique Faculty Liaison Program Which Pairs Law Library and Law Faculty to Undertake Complex Research Projects.
- Foster a Culture of Innovation by Harnessing Emerging Technologies and Best Practices in Legal Information Services.
- Employ a Progressive Vision to Maximize Physical Space Design and Usage to Promote Student Learning and Foster Community Among the Student Body.
- Engage in Faculty Governance, Scholarly Research, and Professional Service.
- Oversee Library Hiring, Supervision, Evaluation of Library Faculty and Staff, and The Allocation of Responsibilities Among Library Faculty and Staff.
- Represent the Law Library Within the Law School, the University, the Local Legal and Library Communities, and The Broader National Legal Academy.
Required Qualifications:
- A Juris Doctor (j.D.) from An Aba-Accredited Law School.
- A Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (m.L.I.S. or Equivalent) or Master of Library Science (m.L.S or Equivalent) from An American Library Association (ala)-Accredited Program.
- Experience with Mentoring a Diverse Range of Law Library Professionals and Having at Least Five Years of Progressively Responsible Experience in An Academic or Law Library, Including Management and Supervisory Roles.
- Demonstrated Expertise in Legal Research, Library Administration, and Emerging Technologies.
- Demonstrated Strong Leadership, Communication, and Interpersonal Skills.
- Demonstrated Commitment to Principles of Job Equity and The Ethics Principles of Aall.

Minimum Qualifications:
This Position Requires a A Juris Doctor (j.D.) from An Aba-Accredited Law School and A Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (m.L.I.S. or Equivalent) or Master of Library Science (m.L.S or Equivalent) from An American Library Association (ala) from An Accredited College or University as Recognized by The United States Department of Education And/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (chea). Experience with Mentoring a Diverse Range of Law Library Professionals and Having at Least Five Years of Progressively Responsible Experience in An Academic or Law Library, Including Management and Supervisory Roles.
Credentials Must Be Obtained Prior to The Start Date.
Faculty Rank Will Be Dependent upon Education and Experience as Outlined Below:
- Associate Professor (tenure-Track): Terminal Degree and Experience in An Academic or Institutional Setting that Demonstrates the Potential for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship, and Service.
- Professor (tenured): Terminal Degree and Experience in An Academic or Institutional Setting with An Established Record of Excellent Teaching, Scholarship, and Service that Is Recognized by The Status of Tenure (or Its Equivalent).
