The Archway is seeking a Director of Legal Services to add to our team.
The Director of Legal Services provides leadership and oversight for our legal team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed legal services to survivors of domestic violence. This position manages a team of attorneys, paralegals, and advocates who provide direct representation and support in family law matters, including protective orders, divorce, custody, and support cases. The Director also serves as lead and/or co-counsel in litigation and maintains strong partnerships with local courts, law enforcement, and community agencies.
This role plays a key part in The Archway's mission by ensuring that survivors have access to comprehensive, compassionate, and effective legal advocacy. The ideal candidate is both a strong leader and a dedicated advocate who thrives in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Supervising and mentoring legal staff, including attorneys, paralegals, legal advocates, and interns.
- Providing direct legal representation in family law cases such as protective orders, divorce, custody, child support, and property settlements.
- Collaborating with local courts, law enforcement, and community partners to strengthen legal services for survivors.
- Overseeing grant compliance and reporting for legal services funding.
- Developing and maintaining department policies, procedures, and training.
- Offering training and consultation to internal staff and external partners on legal issues affecting survivors of domestic violence.
- Represents The Archway, as necessary, to appropriately respond to subpoenas and other discovery requests served on The Archway to assert statutory privileges, including but not limited to the victim-family violence advocate privilege under Texas Family Code chapter 93.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar.
- Minimum of four (4) years of family law experience in Texas, with experience representing victims of domestic violence strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of family law, protective orders, and the civil legal system in Tarrant County.
- Experience supervising staff or managing a legal team preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
