Your Role: A legal ministry cannot operate without lawyers. Your role is to invite attorneys to steward their gifts through service to one of the least of these. You will support them in this service ensuring every volunteer attorney has an exceptional experience, equipping them with the confidence and resources needed to serve clients effectively. By fostering meaningful relationships, providing ongoing support, celebrating accomplishments, and sharing valuable tools, you empower attorneys to excel in their roles, so they naturally want to introduce friends and colleagues to this service opportunity.

Reports to: CEO

What you'll do: You will work directly with our Founder and CEO, collaborating and supporting both the Engagement and Program Services activities of the organization relating to volunteer attorneys. In this role, you will actively participate in strategic conversations focused on strengthening and growing our vital volunteer attorney base.

Your role within this team is to lead in several areas:
  • Develop and execute ideas and strategies to generate new attorney leads, primarily through referrals from our current volunteer attorneys.
  • Ensure attorney satisfaction and retention.
  • Welcome and support new attorneys to ensure they have a successful start to serving by placing them in appropriate Gospel Justice Centers.
  • Proactively nurture ongoing relationships with each attorney to ensure they continue to feel connected and supported.
  • Build community within our attorney network through virtual and in person connections, communications, and gatherings.
  • Respond promptly to questions from attorneys about legal issues or other client matters working directly with the CEO for any needed help in responding.
  • Provide resources to attorneys to ensure they can serve clients effectively.
  • Participate in summer law student internships, providing oversight or direct supervision when specific legal projects are available, and coordinating with other staff as appropriate.
  • Oversee registration and administration of pro bono emeritus/out-of-state attorney registration and renewals (eg. Illinois Rule 756(k) paperwork), ideally through the support of law student interns.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of workshops that support and enhance Program Services initiatives.
  • Create strategies for supporting and scaling our engagement with attorneys with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team.

Success in this role is measured by:
  • Ensuring all new Centers opening have at least one attorney serving.
  • Volunteer attorney retention rate.
  • Volunteer attorney satisfaction rate.
  • New volunteer attorneys joining who report they were recruited by a current volunteer attorney.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • In a growing, energetic relationship with Jesus & aligned with Administer Justice's Statement of Faith.
  • Juris Doctorate or similar legal experience.
  • Able to clearly communicate God's heart for justice in a professional and compelling manner to attorneys.
  • Self-motivated and focused – you must enjoy reaching out to attorneys, motivating them to serve, and training and supporting them in that service.
  • An exceptional listener able to connect people with the opportunities that best fit their interests as well as listen to feedback and provide appropriate guidance.
  • Proactive and creative problem-solver.
  • Ability to work cross-culturally, cross-generationally, and cross-denominationally.

Schedule: Full time position, 32–40 hours per week.

Location: This role is hybrid, with 2 days per week onsite at our Elgin, IL office; alternative arrangements may be considered.
