As Assistant General Counsel – Specialty Lines, you will report directly to the VP, Head of Legal Business Lines. You will play a pivotal role by providing legal advice and counsel to our Specialty Lines group. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation. This role will be highly visible with senior management as you navigate and solve complex challenges and advise on significant opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling, advice and thought leadership with respect to Specialty Lines, including motorcycle, commercial auto, recreational vehicle, and other products.
- Work closely with business teams to review and advise with respect to new products and technologies.
- Maintain awareness of and provide advice with respect to pertinent legislative and regulatory developments impacting these products.
- Be a key strategic leader in the Legal Business Lines Group and work closely with other teams, including Personal Auto and Claims.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 10+ years of experience practicing law including at least 5 years focused on regulatory product issues, preferably in a law firm or the insurance industry.
- Prior direct management experience of attorneys a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written, research, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
- Ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
- Proficiency in managing multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders
