Job Description:
At K&L Gates, we are looking for smart, imaginative and hard-working people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and ideas to join us. Perhaps our search for talented visionaries and your search for important and impactful work lead to the same place.

In memory of our partner and former US Attorney General Dick Thornburg, K&L Gates is honored to introduce the Thornburg Public Interest Fellowship—a unique opportunity designed to continue Dick Thornburg's legacy of public service and commitment to justice through a one-year fellowship supporting the firm's pro bono practice.

The fellow will work closely with the Vice Chair of the Firmwide Pro Bono Committee and office pro bono coordinators in advancing the firm's pro bono efforts on a full-time basis. They will participate in pro bono legal work, such as representing low-income individuals and assisting non-profit organizations, and will help to coordinate the following projects and initiatives:
  • Cyber Civil Rights Legal Project;
  • K&L Gates for Equal Justice initiative;
  • Anti-human trafficking pro bono initiative; and
  • Efforts to increase access to justice through the responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Lawyers with a background in public service or a legal aid organization, or recent law school graduates with a demonstrated interest in pro bono work, would be ideal candidates. Experience with civil rights, immigration, or technology would also be a plus.

Please contact Katherine Ketter at Katherine.Ketter@klgates.com with any questions.

Base Compensation $115,000.00

The compensation salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
