Job Description:

Job Details:
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, in-office position.
  • Supports the Legal team
  • Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Draft and negotiate highly complex contracts in accordance with the Oklahoma Central Purchasing Act and the Information Technology Consolidation and Coordination Act.
  • Assist in the development, preparation, and presentation of cases before administrative, state, federal, and appellate courts.
  • Analyze complex factual and legal issues across multiple areas of state and federal law and prepare legal opinions, memoranda of fact and law, and other legal documents.
  • Assist in drafting bills and amendments for legislative consideration, completes reports on changes in legislation, evaluate proposed legislation and recommends for agency action in response thereto.
  • Assist in drafting rules, conducts public rules hearings, and prepares documentation for the administrative rulemaking process.
  • Interpret and advise on laws, regulations, legal opinions, and administrative policies involved in the operation of the agency and its interactions with industry, private or professional associations, state, federal, or local government, and the general public.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Supports other OMES attorneys, as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday. The noise level in the work environment is typically mild. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift paper and office supplies. Occasional travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Oklahoma
  • Active member of the State Bar of Oklahoma
  • Five (5) years legal experience as a licensed attorney preferred
