The Nevada County District Attorney's Office Is Seeking a Dedicated, Ethical, and Community-Minded Attorney Iii to Join Our Team in Truckee, California. This Position Serves as The Primary Prosecutor Assigned to The Truckee Office, Handling the Full Spectrum of Criminal Cases Arising from The Truckee Area—from Misdemeanors Through Serious and Violent Felonies.

This Is an Exceptional Opportunity for An Experienced Prosecutor Who Is Passionate About Public Service, Courtroom Advocacy, and Making a Meaningful Impact in The Community. the Successful Candidate Will Work Closely with Law Enforcement Agencies, Victim Advocates, the Courts, and Community Partners While Serving One of California's Most Unique Mountain Communities.

As an Attorney Iii, You Will Independently Manage Criminal Cases from Filing Through Disposition While Collaborating with Experienced Prosecutors, Investigators, Victim Advocates, and Law Enforcement Partners. This Position Requires Sound Judgment, Strong Litigation Skills, and The Ability to Effectively Manage a Diverse Caseload in A Collaborative Environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Managing a Broad Range of Criminal Cases, Including Misdemeanors, Felony General Crimes, Crimes Against Persons, Property Crimes, Narcotics Offenses, Dui Cases, Domestic Violence, and Other Criminal Matters Arising in Truckee.
  • Conducting Legal Research and Analyzing Evidence.
  • Reviewing Reports, Digital Evidence, Recordings, and Witness Statements.
  • Evaluating Cases and Making Appropriate Charging Decisions.
  • Negotiating Case Resolutions and Litigating Contested Matters.
  • Preparing for And Conducting Jury Trials, Preliminary Hearings, and Evidentiary Hearings.
  • Collaborating with Local Law Enforcement Agencies, Victim Advocates, and Justice System Partners.
  • Developing Case Strategies and Independently Managing an Active Caseload.
  • Prosecuting Criminal Matters in Accordance with California Law and The Highest Ethical Standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from An Accredited Law School.
  • Active Membership in Good Standing with The State Bar of California.
  • Equivalent to 36 Months of Experience Practicing Criminal Law.

Salary & Benefits:
  • $139,024.92 - $169,720.80 + 10% Truckee Differential Annually (doe/doq)
