Job Description:
Deputy District Attorney I - entry level position which performs professional legal work on a significant docket of misdemeanor and traffic cases including DUIs, domestic violence, assault, and careless driving cases. This position offers the opportunity for new attorneys to gain practical courtroom and trial experience representing the people of Weld County immediately upon employment. Entry level attorneys are provided the opportunity to move through the Office of the District Attorney as they advance in representing the People of Weld County.
Deputy District Attorney II - performs advanced level professional legal work on a docket of felony cases, including narcotics charges, domestic violence, assault, and many others. This position offers the opportunity to gain practical courtroom and trial experience representing the people of Weld County in felony matters, moving through the Office of the District Attorney as they advance in conducting jury trials of increasingly complex cases. Deputy District Attorney II positions are generally filled by advancement from the Deputy District Attorney I level or similar experience at another District Attorney's Office.
Deputy District Attorney III - performs advanced level professional legal work on a docket of felony cases, including narcotics charges, domestic violence, assault, and many others. This position functions as lead trial attorney for a wide range of complex felony prosecutions. The incumbent must demonstrate a strong commitment to seeking justice, preserving community safety, and improving the criminal justice system. Deputy District Attorney III positions are generally filled by advancement from the Deputy District Attorney II level or similar experience at another District Attorney's Office.
Deputy District Attorney IV - performs advanced level professional legal work on a docket of felony cases, including narcotics charges, domestic violence, assault, and many others. This position functions as lead trial attorney for a wide range of complex felony prosecutions, including first degree murder. The incumbent must demonstrate a strong commitment to seeking justice, preserving community safety, and improving the criminal justice system. Deputy District Attorney IV positions are generally filled by advancement from the Deputy District Attorney III level or similar experience at another District Attorney's Office.

Required Education - Required for all levels - I, II, III, IV
Juris Doctorate Degree
Experience Qualifications
1 year Experience practicing as a Deputy District Attorney (Required for level II).
3 years experience practicing as a Deputy District Attorney (Required for level III).
6 years experience practicing as a Deputy District Attorney (Required for level IV).
1 year Experience practicing as a Deputy District Attorney (Required for level II).
3 years experience practicing as a Deputy District Attorney (Required for level III).
6 years experience practicing as a Deputy District Attorney (Required for level IV).
Skills and Abilities - Required for all levels - I, II, III, IV
Candidate must pass a background check prior to employment start date.
