Description:

Responsible for assisting the District Attorney in managing the daily operations of the District Attorney's Office, handling the highest-level cases, supervising attorney's and support staff, monitoring the flow of paperwork. Supervises staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, handling personnel issues: ensuring staff are trained; providing guidance to attorneys; interpreting laws and regulations, preparing and reviewing legal documents; interpreting and enforcing policies; and making recommendations on hiring, termination and disciplinary actions; coordinates activities with other offices, departments and agencies and performs public relations activities; reviews and approves incoming and outgoing work such as pleas and diversions; performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited school of law, Juris Doctorate, eight years of progressively responsible supervisory, criminal, civil, juvenile offender, and/or child in need of care legal practice, or related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. License to practice law in the State of Kansas required. Experience with handling high level cases highly desired. Good communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Membership in the Kansas State Bar and Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Constitutional and/or Criminal law; court procedures and etiquette as well as sentencing guidelines.
