Description:
The Albany County Attorney's Office is seeking a Deputy County and Prosecuting Attorney. The Deputy County Attorney will be responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor cases, although may be reassigned as requested by the County Attorney. The duties of a deputy county attorney may include the following:- Preparing and trying cases involving misdemeanor crimes;
- Reviewing criminal investigations and evaluating criminal cases for appropriate charges, plea dispositions, and likelihood of success at trial;
- Collaborating with law enforcement agencies to provide assistance with warrant reviews and legal questions;
- Analyzing cases, reviewing discovery, and litigating legal issues, including both oral and written advocacy;
- Serving as an on-call attorney in a rotation with the other deputy county attorneys;
- Regularly appear in court daily for arraignments, motion hearings, bench trials, and other court hearings;
- Performing related work as requested or required;
- Possibility of being reassigned in emergency situations.
Qualifications Required:
- Requires a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and admission into the Wyoming State Bar, in good standing;
- Prior courtroom experience preferred;
- Knowledge of trial and hearing procedure and rules of evidence – must have the ability to present statements of fact, law, and argument clearly and logically in both written and oral form;
- Ability to manage a caseload and respond quickly to changing priorities and situations;
- Availability to be on call in a rotation with the other deputy county attorneys, approximately once every four weeks;
- Complete background check, if requested.
