Position:
The Office is seeking an attorney to serve as a Deputy County Attorney. This attorney will initially serve in the office's Civil Division but could transition to another assignment in the future depending upon applicant's experience and the office's need. Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree and be, or will soon be, duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of Nebraska.

Applicants should demonstrate the following: ability to quickly analyze and precisely articulate the critical issues in a case; superior oral and written communication skills; strong research skills; good judgment; ability to develop courtroom skills; a capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a demanding environment; and exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys, paralegals, support staff and outside agencies.

Applicants will be expected to do their own legal research and writing and will be substantially self-sufficient in preparing day-to-day correspondence and pleadings. Applicants should be able to demonstrate computer literacy skills to include legal research, electronic e-mail, word processing systems, and visual presentation software.

The ideal candidate will have some familiarity with Nebraska civil procedure, civil litigation, inheritance tax, and/or tax foreclosures; and will demonstrate the skills necessary to eventually handle complex cases from initial investigation through trial.
