Job Summary:
The Deputy County Attorney provides legal counsel and representation across a broad range of County matters, with primary responsibility for human services, child welfare, adult protection, regulatory and land use enforcement, and child support enforcement. The position also provides legal counsel to the Board of County Commissioners, all elected county officials, the various county boards and commissions, and the various county departments. The Deputy County Attorney serves as acting County Attorney in the County Attorney's absence, and is fully ready to assume the duties and responsibilities of the County Attorney in such circumstances.

Requirements:
An active license to practice law in Colorado or readily admissible to practice in Colorado, and a valid Colorado driver's license.

Qualifications/Education
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Colorado or the ability to obtain licensure within six (6) months of hire.
  • Minimum three years of legal practice, with demonstrated experience in litigation and local government law.
  • Expertise in child welfare law is preferred.
