A Nationwide, Private Direct Lender Company, a national, direct private lender, is seeking a Deputy Counsel to join the Legal team. The role will focus mainly default services by managing our nationwide foreclosure and property management portfolio. The Deputy Counsel will liaise with outside or third-party attorneys to define, implement, and support foreclosure strategy, property loss mitigation, and liquidation strategies. The role will also work with our in-house legal team, including our General Counsel, Assistant Counsel, as well as the A Nationwide, Private Direct Lender Company Executive team, to provide accurate data and reporting to support company goals and processes.

A Nationwide, Private Direct Lender Company is seeking an attorney to serve as Deputy Corporate Counsel to join their legal team. The qualified candidate will report directly to the Corporate Counsel and will be responsible for assisting in overseeing all legal aspects of the business; offering guidance and advice to the executive team; performing legal research; drafting and reviewing legal documents, including but not limited to loan documents, loan modifications and workouts; reviewing contracts; analyzing loan applications; reviewing title policies; reviewing complex entity structures; overseeing foreclosure actions and collection efforts and assisting Corporate Counsel with various compliance, licensing and other business and lending related matters.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing and providing internal opinion with regard to borrower applications, entity structures and title commitments.
  • Legal research and preparation of memorandums.
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts and business agreements.
  • Overseeing the closing of loans.
  • Conducting discussions/negotiations with opposing counsel and third parties.
  • Assist with licensing and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with foreclosure and collection efforts.
  • Assist Corporate Counsel with day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Additional tasks as assigned

Required Experience:
  • JD from an accredited US college or university as well as Admission to the CT Bar
  • At least one year of experience in a professional office environment
  • Knowledge or work history in real estate, banking, lending, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience preferred
