Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.

Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.

Summary Statement
The Delaware Department of Justice, Family Division, is excited to announce an opportunity in its newly formed Criminal & Delinquency Unit in New Castle County for a Deputy Attorney General to join the team. This is a Unit with a high volume of cases and several court calendars scheduled per week. Deputy Attorneys General in this Unit are responsible drafting motions and briefs, performing research, extending and negotiating plea agreements, and taking matters to trial.

**This is a Casual/Seasonal position, currently approved to work up to 37.5 hours per week and is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.**

Job Requirements:
A qualified candidate's strengths will include knowledge of criminal law and procedure, the ability to evaluate criminal cases, determine resolutions, and anticipate legal issues with the ability to research accurately and effectively. Candidates must have the ability to learn and apply the relevant laws and court rules. Candidates must also have or be able to develop a good working relationship with other Deputy Attorneys General, support staff and Court personnel.

Membership in Delaware Bar is not required, however, membership or current Rule 55 admission is preferred. Candidates who are not currently admitted to practice, in any fashion, must register to take the next available Delaware Bar Exam.
