Number of Positions Available: One (1) - location preference required.
Duties: Under
the direction of a supervisory official in the Office of Public
Integrity and Accountability, conducts administrative investigations on
matters of a complex nature involving police oversight and misconduct.
This Deputy Attorney General will represent the State in complex legal
matters; interpret and enforce laws, regulations, and other
instrumentalities; perform extensive research and writing on complex
legal issues; and provide legal advice as necessary. Works on statewide
initiatives and priority projects; serves on various task forces and
working groups for the Office or Department; and performs other related
work as needed. This position may require availability for on-call duty
outside of regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, and
holidays, as necessary to address urgent or critical matters. The
selected candidate must be prepared to respond, remotely or on-site, as
directed by supervisory staff and in accordance with established
protocols and procedures, to perform the essential duties of the
position.
Requirements:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor. Admission to practice as an Attorney at Law in the State of New Jersey is required.
- Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a practicing attorney.
- License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Preference: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in criminal prosecutions and internal affairs investigations.
