The Law Office of Jesse Hernandez is looking to add another dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to our team. We are seeking a compassionate, driven and ambitious Criminal Defense Trial Attorney to join us in our San Antonio office. Key Responsibilities:
- Making a top-notch first impression with potential new clients (PNCs)
- Conducting phone appointments and interacting with clients in the office
- Gathering information to determine a prospective client's needs and appropriately quoting fees for representation
- Communicating with various courts in the area
- Approving legal contracts (in collaboration with the Intake team)
- Operating client management software
- Writing briefs and conducting legal research
- Appearing in court for hearings and trials
- Managing your own docket and schedule appropriately
This position will help you gain extensive experience handling a wide variety of criminal defense cases from DWI to Murder cases. Ultimately, you will gain broad experience in the field and will be prepared to enter any fast-paced, high stakes work environment following your time in the position. To excel in this role, you must show compassion toward your clients and coworkers alike and conduct yourself in a professional manner. You must be willing to help grow the firm. Previous experience as a criminal defense lawyer will be advantageous but is not mandatory to excel in this role.
Requirements:
Our requirements are straightforward. To qualify you must:
- Be licensed to practice law in Texas
- Have 3 or more years of CRIMINAL legal experience
- Trial Experience
- Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Have a strong desire to learn along with a professional drive
- Display excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have proficient knowledge of MS Office and strong computer literacy
- Demonstrate creative problem-solving skills
- Be a self-starter with ability to work independently
- Be comfortable with multitasking in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to operate in an office environment
- Embody empathy, resourcefulness, and drive.
- Display extreme attention to detail
- Exhibit excellent organizational abilities
- Have a team-centric attitude

Education:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited institution
- Licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas, and in good standing
Bonus points:
- Native speaker or proficient in Spanish
- Prior experience in criminal defense
