Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to join our legal team. Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in all misdemeanor, traffic, and felony criminal cases, including arraignments, hearings, trials, and appeals
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Westlaw to build compelling defense strategies
- Draft legal documents, motions, and briefs with precision and clarity
- Negotiate plea agreements and alternative sentencing options to benefit clients whenever possible
- Investigate case facts by interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence, and consulting with experts in fields such as forensic science or environmental law
- Stay informed about developments in criminal law and related areas.
- Maintain meticulous case records and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of criminal defense procedures and courtroom litigation techniques. At least 3 years of criminal defense trial experience.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms including Westlaw.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting motions, pleadings, and client correspondence
- Skilled in negotiation to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
- Excellent client communication skills a must, including timely responses to client inquiries and maintaining regular client contact.
- Legal administrative experience to manage case files efficiently and meet deadlines effectively
- Exceptional research abilities to analyze complex legal issues across multiple jurisdictions
