Description:
A well-established criminal defense practice is seeking a Senior Criminal Defense Attorney with substantial courtroom and trial experience. This position is intended for a seasoned litigator capable of independently managing serious criminal matters from intake through verdict.The position may be structured as either full-time W-2 employment or a 1099 independent contractor role depending on the candidate.
- Full-time W-2: In-office position
- 1099 Contractor: Remote or hybrid arrangements available, part time or case-by-case options.
- Mandarin speaking ability is a significant plus due to the firm's client base. Candidates who are fluent in Mandarin may be considered with fewer years of experience.
Responsibilities:
- Handle felony and misdemeanor criminal cases from inception through resolution, including jury trials
- Serve as lead trial counsel in state and/or federal criminal proceedings
- Advise clients on legal options, risks, and potential outcomes
- Negotiate with prosecutors and opposing counsel when appropriate
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and legal staff when needed
- Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with all ethical and procedural requirements
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with the California State Bar
- 5+ years of criminal defense experience
- Strong knowledge of criminal procedure, evidence, and constitutional law
- Excellent oral advocacy, writing, and client communication skills
- Ability to manage a substantial caseload independently
- Experience handling serious or high-stakes criminal matters strongly preferred
- Mandarin speaking is a strong plus.
Pay: $150,000.00 - $350,000.00 per year
