Overview:
The Chester County Court of Common Pleas is seeking qualified and committed attorneys to provide legal services as court-appointed counsel for parents in dependency proceedings. These services shall include representation for qualifying parents in proceedings before the Juvenile Dependency Court, and the matter is transferred to Orphans' Court Division for termination of parental rights, attorney shall continue representation before the Orphans' Court Division of Chester County. Attorney will also be appointed by the court to qualified cases involving involuntary termination of parental rights in proceedings before the Orphans' Court Division of Chester County,

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide ethical, and effective legal representation to court-appointed clients in all stages of dependency proceedings.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients, explain legal proceedings, and counsel clients on their rights and options.
  • Prepare and file appropriate legal motions, responses, and other pleadings.
  • Conduct discovery, interviews, and investigations as necessary to represent the client's best interests.
  • Collaborate with caseworkers, guardian ad litems, service providers, and other parties in the child welfare system.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable statutes, court rules, and professional conduct standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Pennsylvania State Bar.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in juvenile/dependency law, family law, or child welfare matters.
  • Ability to handle assigned caseload and work with clients in crisis.
  • Strong oral and written advocacy skills.
