This position will support the Technology & Privacy Associate General Counsel in the development, improvement, planning and execution of the privacy and artificial intelligence compliance strategy at Fortune Brands Innovations. Departments of focus for this team include IT, Digital, Connected Products, Product Development, Brand Development/Marketing, and Innovation & Advanced Development. This role requires good business judgement, the ability to work easily with others and collaborative mindset.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Support Fortune Brand's Digital Transformation by assisting the Associate General Counsel in providing counsel to the Chief Digital Officer and digital teams on various matters including connected products, artificial intelligence and data privacy related matters.
  • Assist in drafting and revising technology agreements.
  • Act as a liaison between in-house counsel, outside counsel and the business.
  • Conduct legal research of rapidly evolving data privacy and artificial intelligence laws, regulations, and guidelines and assess how developments affect the Company's legal requirements.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of evolving privacy, security, artificial intelligence and consumer protection laws relevant to the digital space.
  • Work with the Associate General Counsel to prepare educational privacy and artificial intelligence presentations for business stakeholders, assist in presenting same and help increase privacy awareness within the Company.
  • Assist in updating Company terms of use, privacy policy, and other customer-facing documents as well as internal documentation related to privacy and data protection.
  • Stay up to date on company's data collection, use and sharing activities and assist in updating data map accordingly.
  • Assist in responding to data subject requests and complaints.
  • Review new projects and existing processing activities for data protection risks and perform privacy impact assessments where required.
  • Work with business partners to facilitate compliance with internal privacy and data security processes.
  • Lead product compliance initiatives
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners, outside counsel and legal department members.

Qualifications:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree and Juris Doctorate Degree required.
  • 2-4 years of legal experience
  • Working knowledge of and familiarity with global cybersecurity and digital privacy laws such as the GDPR, PIPEDA, PIPL, CPRA and CCPA, and HIPAA, as well as other federal and state privacy or data protection laws.
  • Privacy compliance experience strongly preferred.
  • Big law firm or in-house privacy experience preferred.
  • Privacy and/or data protection-related certification a plus.
