Brandgenuity is a leading trademark licensing agency with offices in New York, Munich, London and Hong Kong who is seeking an Counsel to join its Legal Department. This position is responsible for preparing License Agreements, Amendments, Appendices and other legal documents for both its Domestic and Global Corporate Clients. We will consider qualified candidates across the US for a fully-remote opportunity. The position will report directly into the Agency's Partner who also serves as General Counsel. This role requires a background in contract drafting, as well as strong negotiation skills, excellent analytical and organizational abilities, creative and pragmatic problem-solving approaches and a willingness to stay abreast of legal developments in licensing and intellectual property.What you will do:
- Prepare, negotiate and draft intellectual property and entertainment licensing agreements with a focus on consumer product and interactive licensing agreements.
- Prepare Customs Letters of Authorization for Clients, NDA's and other legal documents
- Hold weekly deal status meetings with account executives, Legal and Finance Departments to seek closure of pending agreements and address any issues preventing execution.
- Maintain files of signed agreements and updated contract management processes utilizing SharePoint
- Perform other legal tasks as needed and assigned
- Manage and update all contract templates as necessary
- Identify issues, legal risks and potential liabilities and report these to the Head of Legal Affairs
What We Require:
- JD from accredited law school, excellent academic credentials
- 2-6 years of relevant experience in a law firm or an-house legal department
- A significant plus is licensing experience, whether representing licensors or licensees, licensing agents and whether involving characters or CPG brands
- Strong negotiating skills with a focus on contract drafting
- Easily adaptable and able to provide excellent service to internal account executives and external clients
- Excellent attention to detail with exceptional organizational ability and the ability to exercise good judgment
- Ability to work easily with changing priorities, timelines and processes
- Strong ability to prioritize workload and problem solve
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly motivated
- Strong MS Office skills
- Fluency in German a plus
