About the role:Uber is looking for a strategic and business-minded Product Counsel to join our Product Legal Team supporting Membership, one of our fastest-growing programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to partner with cross-functional teams and provide legal guidance on subscription models, loyalty programs, and consumer benefits that sit at the heart of the Uber platform.
You'll help shape the legal and regulatory strategy for Membership, navigate complex compliance challenges, and enable innovative growth initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, demanding environment, brings sound judgment, and adapts quickly to evolving business needs. This role may be based in New York, NY or San Francisco, CA.
What You'll Do:
- Advise product, marketing, and operations teams on Membership initiatives.
- Navigate subscription frameworks, including auto-renewal and consumer protection laws.
- Review new products for compliance, marketing, and consumer risk.
- Partner across functions to ensure compliance with U.S. and international laws.
- Collaborate with regional legal teams to support global launches.
- Draft and review terms, disclaimers, and consumer policies.
- Develop scalable legal strategies that enable growth while managing risk.
- Support regulatory engagement and monitor evolving laws affecting Membership.
- Deliver clear, practical legal advice in a fast-moving environment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of legal experience in private practice, in-house, or government OR 4 years, including +1 year Uber internal.
- J.D. and license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in subscription services law (e.g., auto-renewal,consumer protection).
- Experience with loyalty programs, recurring billing, or subscription products.
- Engagement with U.S. regulators (FTC, state AGs) on compliance issues.
- Strong ability to navigate complex regulations with business-oriented advice.
- Proven collaborator across legal, product, marketing, and business teams.
- Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks for subscription/loyalty products.
- Resourceful in managing internal and external legal resources.
- Excellent communicator able to distill complex legal issues into clear guidance.
- Growth mindset, curiosity, and passion for solving novel legal challenges.
- Integrity, accountability, and commitment to the highest ethical standards.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$208,000 per year - USD$231,000 per year.
