Wilshire is looking for Counsel to join its Legal team. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who thrives on collaboration with others in an exciting and supportive work environment.

What you’ll do:
  • Draft, review and negotiate various contracts including advisory, index and software licensing, and vendor service agreements
  • Work with business on product development and management
  • Careful structuring, negotiating and ongoing administration of investments
  • Fund creation and management (private and public)
  • Maintain legal files and records in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Assist on regulatory issues such as reviews and filings
  • Advise on general legal matters while collaborating with other in-house attorneys, senior team members, HR, compliance, finance, and operations
  • Interact with external counsel - outsource legal work as appropriate in a cost-effective manner

What you have:
  • JD
  • Admitted to a US state bar (California or New York preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years of corporate/transactional law experience in a law firm or in-house with strong legal skills
  • Experience with index, software, or other IP licensing contracts preferred
  • Experience in financial services, securities and/or investment management preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including experience counseling clients (internal or external) on legal risk, compliance, and regulatory matters
  • Ability to work self - guided and efficiently under time pressures and deadlines with careful attention to details
  • Ability to balance legal expertise and business judgment
