The Firm has created a Counsel position to assist our global commercial underwriting team in assessing the merits of cases we are considering for funding. This role is a support role specifically designed for an experienced attorney who excels at high quality legal research and case analysis.

The base compensation range for this role is $225,000 - $250,000. A Finance Service Company also offers a discretionary annual merit bonus. All new hires are awarded a welcome Restricted Stock Unit grant.

This role is based in A Finance Service Company's New York office and will report to the Co-COO or her designee.

Position Requirements:
Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the US commercial underwriting team to review and analyze new matters
  • Draft and edit memos designed to provide a clear and thorough analysis of the factual and legal bases for claims, strengths and weaknesses of a case, and a detailed recommendation about the strength of a case
  • Legal research related to new areas of law we are exploring to assist the team in developing opportunities for business development outreach
  • Legal research as needed to support ethics and policy team

Skills Desired
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Thoughtful litigator with an intuitive sense of the merit, value and risks of litigation;
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience as a litigator, preferably at a large law firm
  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction preferred
