Description:Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides legal support to multiple business units, including underwriting, claims, product and insurance operations teams.
- Provides day-to-day legal counsel on a wide range of business and insurance matters, including insurance products, programs, forms, endorsements, advertising / marketing and operational processes and procedures.
- Provides legal guidance on customer service issues, including legal review of business unit responses to consumer complaints and regulatory inquiries.
- Provides compliance guidance and interprets complex federal and state laws to support business
- initiatives.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school and current member of the Indiana bar.
- 1-3 years Insurance law, legal practice, compliance department, or industry experience.
- Comfortable building and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels across the organization and taking responsibility for assigned matters.
- Proactive and reliable self-starter, capable of working both independently without direct supervision and cooperatively as part of a broader team.
- Demonstrated strong verbal communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent legal writing, research, and presentation skills, with an ability to explain complex information to non-lawyers.
- Sound judgment, a high degree of professionalism, and an ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, shifting priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
