Description:
General Description:Provide advice across multiple corporate law practices, including mortgage, retail lending, auto business, federal consumer compliance regulation, banking regulations and general corporate law.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support on complex time-sensitive matters within a strong regulatory framework, including compliance with internal policies.
- Ensure timely identification, mitigation and resolution of existing and emerging legal issues and risks and properly identify escalation needs.
- Participate in new projects and initiatives and prepare foundational documents, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws and best practices.
- Offer legal guidance on the design and modification of products and services, including disaster relief initiatives, for consumption by varied internal teams.
- Advise business leaders on potential risks on their respective channels and suggest alternative mitigation strategies.
- Draft and review all types of documents implementing laws and regulations, including internal communications, letters to clients, procedures, NDAs, contractual notices.
- Engage in effective drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Direct and manage, as needed, outside counsel in a cost-effective manner.
Education:
Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
Experience:
A minimum of (5) years of experience.
Certifications/ Licenses
Admitted to practice law and licensed as a Notary Public in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

- Technical knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code, Puerto Rico Mortgage Law and Registry Rights, including property title issues and federal and Puerto Rico banking regulations.
- Anticipates opportunities and potential solutions to complex, time-sensitive matters.
- Individual must be well spoken, with excellent bilingual (English and Spanish) writing and presentation skills
- Critical, analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Moderate Excel skills and detail oriented
- Strong client-relations skills and ability to partner with internal stakeholders to develop practical solutions that meet business needs while remaining compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Strong workethic and drive
