What to ExpectTesla's Trade Legal Team is seeking a skilled export compliance professional to support adherence to export control regulations. This role sits at the intersection of Tesla's groundbreaking innovation, future products, legal, policy, and engineering efforts. The position involves developing and implementing Tesla's export compliance program, collaborating with internal engineers to understand technology in production and development, and working with government relations teams to engage in discussions on future export controls amidst a dynamic policy landscape.
What You'll Do:
- Provide legal advice on export control rules, sanctions regulations, and related compliance matters
- Lead trade compliance investigations and manage submissions or disclosures to the U.S. government as required
- Collaborate with a dedicated team to enhance the trade compliance program through continuous improvement
- Oversee export compliance policies, procedures, and key elements of the trade program
- Monitor and communicate updates on export control and sanctions laws or regulations impacting the business via internal channels
- Manage export compliance training content and coordinate annual rollouts to support program initiatives
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, or international equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in compliance and regulatory counsel roles
- Admission to practice law and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar, or equivalent in other jurisdictions
- Experience in export compliance and sanctions
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal and regulatory issues to non-legal stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs and projects

Expected Compensation
$172,000 - $282,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
