You will report to Employment Law Senior Counsel and be a key member of a legal team of a growing and dynamic Fortune 500 company. You will have responsibility for providing employment counseling, advice, and day-to-day support to HR business partners with respect to employee relations issues. You will also have responsibility for monitoring employment law developments, creating employment related policies to ensure standard processes and compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and providing additional legal support for other employment topics as needed. Additionally, you will be a significant part of Avantor's ethics and compliance program, including its global helpline and HR-related internal investigations. You will work collaboratively with other members of the Legal department, HR, and business areas.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: JD required; current license to practice law in good standing required
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of employment law experience required with mix of firm and in-house experience preferred
- Conducting compliance, ethics, and/or HR investigations
- Responding to EEOC and other agency charges
- Defending employment litigations and managing discovery issues
- Knowledge of legal issues relating to employee benefit plans and compensation programs (i.e., 401(k), health and welfare, annual and long-term incentive, and deferred compensation plan advice, etc.) preferred

- Provide practical and actionable legal advice to HR and business leaders on employee issues such as disciplinary issues, FMLA and other protected leaves, ADA accommodation issues, and any other matter that impacts the workforce
- Remain current on changes in employment law and regulations that may impact operations and partner with business leaders to prepare for and implement necessary changes
- Assist with the development and delivery of corporate training related to employment law and compliance
- Oversee Ethics Helpline docket to ensure that reports are appropriately investigated and documented and remedial actions taken as necessary
- Direct and oversee internal investigations conducted by HR
- Monitor, advise, and communicate to key stakeholders on trends observed in the Ethics Helpline
- Prepare and distribute global communications on ethics and compliance matters
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned
