Description:
Key Responsibilities:- Develop a thorough understanding of and familiarity with GM's businesses, products, future goals, and the regulatory schemes under which it operates.
- Provide legal advice to technical and business teams on the development, delivery, sale, and operation of industry-leading connected technologies delivered through automotive vehicles and other mobile devices with an emphasis on compliance and a world class customer experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address legal issues related to consumer protection, data privacy, marketing, regulatory compliance, and emerging legal frameworks.
- Review and draft service terms, product disclosures, end user license agreements, and other customer-facing legal documents.
- Support internal governance and policies regarding data use and information security.
- Monitor legal developments impacting connected vehicle technologies and software services, advising stakeholders accordingly.
- Coordinate with global regional counsel to develop and deliver common solutions to shared digital products and business initiatives.
- Support other Legal Staff members on a project management basis, creating an engaged team culture.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from accredited law school
- Membership in good standing in at least one state bar
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Experience working in or with software and technology industries
- Product or program counseling experience
- Experience advising on customer-facing technology products, including app and software based products
- Strong knowledge of consumer laws, data privacy, intellectual property, and commercial issues
- Ability to organize and inform through excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice in a demanding environment
- Ability to collaborate, form relationships, gain credibility, and partner up and down a matrixed organization
