About the role:
The Ads & Marketing Legal team partners with A Ride-Sharing Mobile Application Company's fast growing Advertising Business to take on novel challenges, offering strategic counsel to Sales, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams; and partners with A Ride-Sharing Mobile Application Company's Marketing & Business Partnerships organizations to advise on Marketing Campaigns, Digital Media, Consumer Protection, Strategic Partnerships, and Marketing Law issues.

We are looking for an exceptional lawyer to be the go-to for Alcohol, Grocery, and Retail issues on the Marketing Legal team. Someone with experience in state-by-state alcohol promotions and offers, issues with liquor stores, grocery stores, and on-premises establishments, advertising campaigns by alcohol retailers, suppliers and distributors, activations across multiple media, and negotiating partnership and sponsorship agreements as well as an overall solid foundation in Marketing & Advertising law and FTC guidelines.

In addition to the alcohol work, you'll also work with the leader of the Delivery Marketing Legal team to work on other areas of Marketing law within Uber Eats, such as Restaurant food delivery, Grocery, and Retail.

What You'll Do:
  • Be the go-to for all the things Alcohol Marketing Law on the Marketing Legal Team, cross-functionally partnering closely with teams globally throughout A Ride-Sharing Mobile Application Company.
  • Provide ongoing legal support for various marketing activities across our Delivery Marketing Legal Team, including Uber Eats, Postmates, Grocery & Retail.
  • Be the point person for Marketing Law in the US for other restricted item verticals.
  • Update and maintain marketing playbooks and guidelines based on applicable laws, rules, and regulatory developments.
  • Collaborate on and draft internal training on relevant issues.
  • Work with stakeholders to implement changes in internal processes.

Basic Qualifications:
  • A minimum of (5) five years of experience in Marketing Legal work and a minimum of (1) one year of Alcohol Marketing experience.
  • Experience with tied house rules, FTC and TTB regulations, and alcohol industry guidelines.
  • J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience reviewing and advising on consumer protection, marketing legal issues & advertising campaigns across mediums.
  • Excellent business judgment, ability to build credibility, great communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment, both collaborating as a team to stay in sync and working independently to get the job done.
