Who We Are:
MoFo is a destination law firm for talented, ambitious attorneys who value collaboration, teamwork, and commitment to excellence. We are known around the world not only for delivering innovative yet practical client service but also for serving as an incubator for our top-notch talent.

MoFo consistently receives top-tier rankings from leading directories and publications, speaking to our legal capabilities, dedication to creating an inclusive workplace, and commitment to our communities.

Our Social Enterprise + Impact Investing Group
Philanthropic capital is a small fraction of the global capital markets, yet the demands on it keep growing. Governments, nonprofits, and communities are being asked to do more with less. Our Impact group helps close that gap by bringing together business, investment, and philanthropy through impact investing and other innovative models that unlock solutions at scale.

For more than two decades, MoFo has built the legal structures that make those solutions possible. Our Impact practice is best in class, ranked Band 1 by Chambers. We were helping pioneering clients align mission with capital long before impact investing became a recognized asset class, and that headstart gives our clients a real edge: deep knowledge of innovative capital structures, multidisciplinary reach, and the creativity to build solutions where no established model exists.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach here. On our team, you will craft legal and financing tools tailored to the needs of nonprofits and foundations on one side, and corporations and asset managers on the other.

Suz Mac Cormac, co-chair of the practice, explains, “You should join our team if you have a strong foundation in corporate law with sophisticated financing and/or M&A transactional experience and the desire to employ those skills toward social and environmental goals.”

Who You Are:
  • You have 3 to 6 years of law firm experience advising clients on corporate transactions, incorporation, governance, and structuring. Social enterprise and impact investing experience is a plus.
  • You have worked on private equity, venture capital, growth equity, financings, secondary transactions, or other private investment deals.
  • You draft, review, and negotiate investment, financing, governance, and other transaction documents.
  • You advise boards and management teams on corporate governance, fiduciary duties, and sustainability-related matters.
  • You work well with colleagues in corporate, finance, tax, regulatory, securities, executive compensation, intellectual property, and beyond to deliver on sophisticated transactions and advisory matters.
  • You communicate complex legal and commercial issues clearly and concisely, in oral and written form, to your team and your clients.
  • You have a strong work ethic, team player attitude, and action-oriented interest in taking on increased levels of responsibility.
  • You are admitted to the state bar in which you are practicing, or you are eligible to waive in.
