Job Summary:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Corporate Council is a contributor of legal advice and counsel to the company and industry organizations. Investigate/develop legal recommendations and implement approved solutions. This position requires intelligence, tact and diplomacy, a keen sense of confidentiality and responsibility, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all levels of company and external audiences. Ensure that information, knowledge, and experience is shared for the benefit of the Company as a whole. Participate in special projects and assignments as requested by senior management. Handles matters appropriately in supervisor's absence. To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each general duty satisfactorily.   • Pre-Contract/Business Development: Review and analyze solicitations, RFQ's, RFP's and contract terms and conditions to highlight legal and operational risks/rewards, analyze teaming arrangements and draft/negotiate joint venture and other teaming related documents, work with Estimating/Operations to evaluate and communicate legal risk issues and mitigation techniques, negotiate and draft contract documents for execution, draft and present Contract Administrative Checklists, etc.
  • Operations: Develop and maintain legal documents and department files, including confidential personnel files. monitor Project Performance Reviews and assist with resolution of identified problems, respond to queries from Operations with respect to contract administration issues and provide advice on legal rights and obligations, implement and update contract administration policies and procedures and risk management tools and guidelines, assist with the resolution of labor and employment related issues, provide advice on contract interpretation and change management support, interpret statutes and regulations.
  • Claims/Dispute Resolution: Assist in the handling and analysis of all claims, develop and implement pre-litigation resolutions, assist outside counsel with regard to document review and internal investigations, monitor and manage performance of outside counsel, lead the analysis and resolution of smaller, non-litigation claims.
  • Corporate: Implement and maintain the legal training program for incoming Alberici employees, manage and maintain budget for outside legal and consulting fees, conduct due diligence and manage preparation of legal documents for mergers, acquisitions, and divestures, understand, comply, and report any known violations of laws, regulations, or company policies/procedures.
  • Meets schedules and deadlines, adheres to and promotes adherence to Company policies and procedures, and maintains an excellent attendance/tardiness record.
  • Ensure legal needs of Company are efficiently and timely addressed.
  • Sets high standards for professional appearance, attitude, and behavior in the Company.
  • Strives to be aware of developments and circumstances in all aspects of the Company's operations and makes appropriate recommendations and suggestions for departmental actions or involvement.
  • Ensures client satisfaction, both internally and externally, through positive, pleasant, professional, and efficient handling of issues.
  • Exercises good interpersonal skills by gladly assisting others to accomplish work of the Company, even if it is outside the scope of regular duties.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries within area of expertise.
  • Prepares and processes correspondence from own composition or from supervisor's direction and/or individuals working under supervisor's direction, signs supervisor's name as authorized.
  • Adheres to explicit and implicit confidentiality, privilege and sensitivity requirements and standards of professional responsibility
  • Development and delivery of training on compliance with policies/procedures, risk mitigation strategies and dispute avoidance/management.
  • Supports and adheres to the matrix organization format, models and reinforces safety as a top priority of the Company. Always wears a hard hat and other appropriate personal protective equipment in the field.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

May manage direct reports.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability
Technical and Mental Skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations, ability to handle highly sensitive information and situations with appropriate care and discretion, performs substantive work that requires practical working knowledge of legal concepts, write reports, business correspondence, and company policies/procedures, effectively communicates information to and responds to inquiries from all levels of Company and external audiences, solves problems and deals with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists, interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, comfortable multi-tasking in an often fast-paced environment, organizes and manages time, duties, and activities efficiently.

Education:
J.D. degree from accredited Law School.

Experience:
At least 5 years' experience in general corporate, construction and labor/employment law, including risk identification/management and contract administration/operational issues; working knowledge of standard contract documents from Consensus Docs/AIA/D

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Licensed to practice law in the state of residence and/or assigned office.
