About Your Role
We are looking for a Corporate Counsel to join An Investment Management Platform with a focus on privacy and commercial transactions. The successful candidate will partner closely with other department leaders and focus on designing, implementing, and improving privacy and cybersecurity procedures, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, and collaborating with our product team to ensure proper data usage for new product features. We're looking for a confident decision-maker with experience implementing privacy programs, negotiating SaaS EULAs, DPAs, and Service Agreements. You should have excellent communication skills, be comfortable making decisions independently, and have a vision for a company's privacy program.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop, update and maintain privacy and data protection documentation (e.g. templates, privacy negotiation playbook, Transfer Impact Assessments, Data Subject request procedures)
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and point of escalation for customer and vendor privacy and data protection-related contract negotiations and questions.
  • Handle general contract inquiries and assist business development/sales teams with general questions regarding contract language, acceptable revisions, etc.
  • Review and negotiate contracts requested by internal teams, vendors, and customers to ensure that contract activities are in full compliance with An Investment Management Platform requirements.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel for on-going privacy projects.
  • Enter, update, and report on data in our contract management tools.
  • This role will regularly interact with senior-level sales leaders, executives, and subject matter experts where business decisions impact legal risks.
  • Assist with contract processes in general, including form and playbook development, procedure and policy training, and support of our contract management workflows.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to a state bar (California or Texas preferred)
  • 5-8 years experience implementing privacy programs, drafting privacy documents, and negotiating complex software or software-as-a-service and consulting services contracts involving security, privacy, and IP issues.
  • CIPP/US and/or CIPP/E certification is a plus.
  • Experience in-house within a technology company with a quarterly sales cycle is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of standard contract language and experience negotiating those terms.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and have strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams and deliverables and coordinate across functional initiatives to meet deadlines.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving and fast-changing environment.
