The company seeks a Corporate Counsel to support its Aeronautics Systems sector. The current role is to support the F/A-18 and F-35 programs as well as MQ Next, Sonoma Photonics and El Segundo site matters. The Corporate Counsel role will also eventually include support of restricted program pursuits in AS and will need to flex to accommodate ongoing changes in the Aeronautics Systems sector and the Air Dominance Division. The major programs that this Corporate Counsel will support are in Space Park and Palmdale and Corporate Counsel will need to be flexible as to location and travel, including spending time in Palmdale.
The Corporate Counsel will provide legal advice, counsel and service to internal business clients concerning legal rights, obligations, and privileges of corporations; draw up contracts involving leases, licenses, purchases, sales, real estate, employment, insurance, mergers, acquisitions and related matters. keep current on legislative issues, statutes, decisions and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies; examines legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit; acts as agent of corporation in various transactions; advises company regarding concerns for risk assessment. Must have admission to practice law. May develop, review, or implement company-wide and/or functionally specific training programs. May also oversee corporate governance matters and its various committees. May work with outside counsel to direct activities.
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Member of the State Bar in the applicable location, capable of being licensed through testing or comity, or, in lieu of licensure, capable of registering as an in-house counsel in accordance with the rules of the applicable State Bar.
- Strong academic credentials, and the highest level of integrity and ethics.
- 6 or more years of relevant experience at one or more top law firms, government agencies and/or in-house legal departments.
- Experience with contracting and subcontracting in support of U.S. Government programs and/or with complex commercial transactions.
- Excellence in analyzing legal concepts and ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, including all levels within the organization, from executive leadership to first-line supervisors, customer representatives and attorneys, and all levels of Government agency personnel.
- Ability to provide accurate, timely and pragmatic advice.
- Ability to promote and contribute to a collaborative team environment that encourages and supports inclusion to drive innovation and reach the best solutions to complex problems.
- Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to balance multiple competing priorities.
- Ability to direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.
- Proven success leading teams and driving for results in a matrixed organization.
- An active U.S. security clearance at the Secret level or higher, or the ability to obtain such.
Salary Range: $216,400 USD - $311,100 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
