A Financial Services Company is a fast-growing startup working at the intersection of cybersecurity and insurance. Since raising our Series B funding in August 2022, we have accelerated our mission to empower organizations to understand, quantity, manage, and mitigate their cyber risk. With our innovative technology and data-driven insights, we are rapidly expanding internationally, helping businesses navigate the complex world of cybersecurity and insurance.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Counsel to join our expanding team - who wants to work at an early-stage company, and is excited by the opportunity to truly roll up their sleeves on everything from the most critical strategic matters to the minutia needed to run a company as the single-person (for now) legal team. In this role, you will provide strategic legal advice, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and help drive our continued growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of corporate matters, including contracts, regulatory compliance, data privacy (including GDPR), employment law, and intellectual property.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements, including customer agreements, vendor contracts, license agreements, and partnership agreements.
  • Manage and mitigate legal risk by developing and implementing appropriate policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Assist in the expansion of Axio's international operations, including researching and advising on local laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
  • Support corporate governance and board matters, including preparing resolutions, minutes, and other corporate documents.
  • Advise on and manage intellectual property matters, including patent, trademark, and copyright filings and enforcement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that legal and business objectives are aligned and met.
  • Monitor and keep the company informed of relevant legal developments, regulatory changes, and industry trends.
  • Manage external legal counsel, as needed, to ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal representation.
  • Implement a contract management system including compiling and organizing existing legal documents
  • Assist with any other legal or compliance-related matters, as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and an active member in good standing of at least one state bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate law, contracts, and compliance matters.
  • Experience working with technology companies, especially in the cybersecurity or insurance sectors, is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of international law and experience with cross-border transactions and expansion.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A proactive, business-minded approach to problem-solving, with a commitment to providing practical legal advice and solutions.
