- Assist on diverse legal issues, including Native American law, intellectual property, licensing, casino gaming law (including i-gaming and sports betting), real estate leases, entertainment and hospitality agreements, employment, labor, data privacy, and general corporate and compliance matters.
- Assist with post-acquisition integrations
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts
- Assist with managing national corporate entities and support secretarial function, including assisting with the preparation of subsidiary board materials
- Advise key stakeholders of legal and business risks related to deals that you support
- Review and assist with state, federal and tribal legislative and regulatory initiatives
- Assist in the development of organizational policies and procedures
- Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Vice President Deputy General Counsel
- Assist the Vice President Deputy General Counsel in litigation matters (including, but not limited to, matters in the Gaming Disputes Court)
- Assisting in the protection of the sovereignty and economic self-determination of the A Gambling Facilities & Casinos Company Tribe and other tribes through economic, trade-industry and other relationships
- Juris Doctor from accredited law school
- At least one (1) year of experience working on transactional matters or in labor/employment law.
- Possess an interest in Gaming law
- Must be a member of the State of Connecticut Bar. Eligible for state and tribal gaming occupational licenses, as needed.
- Strong organization, effective planning, problem solving, and analytical skills required
- Superior communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to liaise comfortably with all levels of management and outside counsel
- Must exhibit initiative and assertiveness in obtaining information needed to proceed with projects and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations or urgent requests that may arise with little or no notice
- Must possess discretion and sensitivity when working with confidential information and safeguard such information appropriately
- Ability to exhibit independent judgment when evaluating projects or assignment needs
- Broad understanding of rules and regulations as well as laws, compacts and regulations governing gaming, including federal Indian law and tribal-state gaming compacts
- Knowledge of corporate and department policies and procedures
- Adherence to all rules and regulations of the Management Board
- Knowledge of A Gambling Facilities & Casinos Company's financing structure and public reporting and disclosure obligations
- Knowledge of tribal gaming from both an owner/operator and management contractor/vendor perspective
- Thorough understanding of the A Gambling Facilities & Casinos Company Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO) as it relates to employment
