Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate Degree (Undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management preferred);
  • Active law license required (TN state bar licensure is a plus);
  • Minimum of three (3) years as a licensed and practicing attorney, either in private practice or in-house;
  • Construction law experience (contracts and litigation);
  • Excellent analytical, multitasking, and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Strong initiative, flexibility, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, both independently and in a team setting;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and management skills;
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-attorney team members;

Job Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, analyze and negotiate construction related contracts;
  • Collaborate with project teams and corporate leadership to identify risks and mitigate exposure;
  • Assist with development of affirmative claims and defense of claims against the company;
  • Act as internal support to outside counsel on construction related matters (investigation, collection of information, response to litigation related requests, development of case strategy, etc.);
  • Provide legal guidance to corporate leadership on various construction and risk related matters;
  • Provide internal training to project teams on a variety of legal and risk management topics;
  • Provide support for the Chief Legal Officer, as needed;
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
