Description:
Requirements/Qualifications:- Juris Doctorate Degree (Undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management preferred);
- Active law license required (TN state bar licensure is a plus);
- Minimum of three (3) years as a licensed and practicing attorney, either in private practice or in-house;
- Construction law experience (contracts and litigation);
- Excellent analytical, multitasking, and problem-solving capabilities;
- Strong initiative, flexibility, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines;
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, both independently and in a team setting;
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and management skills;
- Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-attorney team members;
Job Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, analyze and negotiate construction related contracts;
- Collaborate with project teams and corporate leadership to identify risks and mitigate exposure;
- Assist with development of affirmative claims and defense of claims against the company;
- Act as internal support to outside counsel on construction related matters (investigation, collection of information, response to litigation related requests, development of case strategy, etc.);
- Provide legal guidance to corporate leadership on various construction and risk related matters;
- Provide internal training to project teams on a variety of legal and risk management topics;
- Provide support for the Chief Legal Officer, as needed;
- Other duties as may be assigned.
