The Legal Group protects us against risks and provides the framework for our ethical and compliant global business practices, enabling Lam to effectively navigate the landscape of the semiconductor industry. Their global government affairs team is responsible for advocating on behalf of Lam with public policymakers.

What You'll Do:
This role is responsible for a broad range of complex buy-side commercial transactions supporting company operations regionally and globally. This covers manufacturing supply chain and non-manufacturing purchasing organizations, including purchases and other types of transactions relating to raw materials, production inventory, supplier development, supply chain risk management, manufacturing equipment and supplies, professional services, licenses of software and media, logistics, facilities services, and other needs as they arise.

Responsibilities for the Position We Are Seeking to Fill Include:
  • Partner with globally located business teams to provide legal advice and develop effective and efficient transaction strategies that achieve business goals while complying with Lam policies, laws, and regulations, and protecting Lam's confidential information and intellectual property rights.
  • Draft/review agreements and support negotiations in the execution of transaction strategies under the supervision of senior counsel.
  • Participate in developing and delivering legal training, communications, playbooks, contract templates, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Participate in the legal team's initiatives and projects seeking to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the team.
  • Support the development and implementation of company policies, processes, and procedures in cooperation with various functions, such as finance and accounting, operations, engineering, and IT.
  • Participate in implementing legal technology and provide timely general legal support.
  • Collaborate with the Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) Business Operations team to ensure legal processes effectively identify potential risks and legal liabilities, while safeguarding the best interests of GSCM and Lam Research through well-crafted contract templates and procedures.

Who We're Looking for:
  • 3-5 years of experience, including significant experience at a global company.
  • J.D., Bar membership; Oregon or California preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in commercial law principles, strength in contract drafting, and experience in negotiation.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex buy-side transactions covering a significant portion of the job description.
  • Experience providing legal support in a manufacturing environment and understanding of supply chain issues arising in global operations.
  • Commitment to clear and effective communication, high accessibility, and a ‘roll-up your sleeves' approach.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively explain complex technical and legal matters to non-legal business partners at all levels of experience and English-language skill.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, across time zones and cultures to support significant international operations and coordinate with remote resources, in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Be in office in Tualatin 1 or 2 days per week, more as needed for effective performance.
  • Experience with using Contract Lifecycle Management tools, such as iCertis; and familiarity with Office 365, DocuSign e-signature software.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of common law principles, understanding of civil law jurisdictions, and CISG is a plus.
  • Experience providing legal support for a technology-focused company or technology development projects.
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Well-rounded understanding of antitrust, supply chain regulatory compliance, and ethics and compliance regulations, policies, and processes.
  • Ability to occasionally travel within the US and internationally.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
