Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our Legal team and support in commercial contracting and development of Payscale's privacy, data, and AI strategy. In this role, you'll drive compliance with evolving global laws in the tech space, advising on product and business initiatives with regulatory implications and helping to build and maintain trust with our customers and partners. You'll work cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Engineering, Information Security, and other business teams to embed compliance-by-design principles across the organization.
What You'll Do:
- Assess customer contracts, vendor contracts and data processing agreements for privacy risks, AI governance requirements, and third-party data sharing restrictions
- Help maintain corporate policies, terms of service, and related legal documentation in compliance with U.S. and international privacy, data security, and AI laws
- Conduct risk assessments and advise on data handling practices for new features, integrations, and business initiatives
- Support the company's response to data subject access requests, deletion requests, incident management, and regulatory inquiries
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve relevant processes and implement compliance-by-design principles
- Monitor the regulatory landscape, advise company leaders regarding new developments, and help implement proactive compliance measures
- Help develop and deliver trainings for internal teams on core regulatory compliance issues
- Coordinate with other risk and governance teams on third-party due diligence efforts
We'd love to talk with you if you have:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and bar admission in at least one U.S. state
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Deep knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, the EU AI Act, and other U.S. and international laws applicable to privacy, data security, and AI
- Experience advising SaaS, data analytics, or technology companies on regulatory compliance matters, with a focus on privacy, data security, and AI
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance for business audiences
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
- Excellent judgment and the ability to independently manage a diverse portfolio of matters
Nice to Have:
- Experience with security frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, FedRAMP)
- Familiarity with technical concepts related to data security and infrastructure
- Experience as in-house counsel at a growth-stage technology company
- Demonstrated interest in leveraging AI tools to improve day-to-day processes
