We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Attorney located in Appleton, WI.
How you will contribute:
Join our Legal team, where you'll play a key role in safeguarding our business operations through contract management and strategic legal support. You'll review and negotiate a wide range of documents, including contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and NDAs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with Ahern's procedures and standards.
In this detail-oriented role, you'll serve as a central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, resolving questions and issues related to contract language negotiations, approvals, and insurance requirements. You'll also prepare and negotiate vendor agreements and major equipment purchase orders, and maintain organized records within our contract management system to support transparency and operational efficiency.
You'll collaborate closely with the General Counsel to assist with general liability claims, change order correspondence, and job dispute resolution. Your contributions will also extend to refining corporate policies and procedures, driving continuous improvement in contract administration and legal operations.
You will also supervise Ahern's Bids and Contracts Administrator that will support you in reviewing contracts with previously negotiated terms.
What you need to qualify:
Ahern will help you make the most of your attention to detail, strong reading comprehension, and ability to manage a large number of diverse tasks and deadlines with confidence and independence. You'll thrive in this role by providing excellent customer service and communication skills, whether in person, over the phone, or via email, and by maintaining a professional, organized approach to every interaction.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam markup software is essential, and positive referrals and references will reinforce your credibility. You'll stand out by demonstrating experience reviewing and negotiating contract language, along with a working knowledge of insurance certificates and coverages. A law degree and admission to practice in Wisconsin (or eligibility for admission by reciprocity) with at least two years of experience, with a primary focus on contract negotiation and drafting, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or a corporate environment.
This role does require travel to Fond du Lac, WI one day per week but can be based out of our Fond du Lac, Milwaukee, Madison or Appleton, WI offices.
